. From this, I tried to learn as much as I could on porcelain. I attended a week-long class at Bell's Ceramics in Florida and from
there I went home and sold all of my ceramic molds so I could get into dolls as I realized that this was a long lost love of mine
and that it had always been in the back of my mind for many years. It was a hard road at first because I really did not know if
there was anyone out there who loved dolls as much as I did. I went to Connie's in Oregon where I studied with
The Menzebach who was a master sculptor from the Hummel factory in Germany. I studied under him for 5 years.
rom this I also studied under Marlene Engler of the Netherlands and also Hildegard Gunzel from Germany.I really believe that
the German artists have so much to give us.I have to say the reason which I had worked at home is that I was given a special
child and I worked at home so that I could be with him. When he was placed in a special living home I was then able to go after
my dreams. For some reason God makes things work in special ways. I have to say if ever you have a dream, please follow it.
I have also worked for the Effanbee doll company along with Edna Hibel and the Danbury Mint, Lenox China. I have been
Marie Osmond's Teacher of sculpting and mentor for 5 years. I have also sculpted for the Marie Osmond line for the past
6 years. In 1996, I took the Doty Award for the Play doll of the Year with the Sammy Doll from the Effanbee doll company.
I also took three nomiations for Dolls of Excellence and also a Doty nomination in 1996.I have to say in closing, please if you
have a dream please follow it as I have mine. I have to say I could not do all of this without the support of my husband Roger
and children. I love teaching people the art form of sculpturing as it brings out so much love in a person to see how they can
treat a wonderful and beautiful object.

Love,
Beverly Stoehr
I was born into an army family and traveled most of my younger life.
My family came to settle in Western New York when I was in my early
teens. I had met Roger and we went with each other for 3 years before we
were married. I always had a love for dolls and when I was younger and
we were moving so much I was unable to have them. After we were
married I had forgotten about my love of dolls. Shortly after, our children
were born. Their names are Roger and Barbara. They were 12 months
apart. When Barbara became the age for dolls I was so disappointed there
were no pretty dolls for her to play with.

As time went on I started in a ceramic class and tried to learn as much as
possible. My husband encouraged me to go into teaching and starting my
own business. I taught ceramics for 15 years before i went into doll making.
This was the start to my career in doll making. We were asked to judge a
ceramic show in Rochester New York. At this show there was a beautiful
porcelain doll that I could not take my eyes off of. She was outstanding!
I wanted to give her a blue ribbon right away, but the other judges were
not in agreement with this.
